One of a group of similar semi-detached houses built c1886-88, possibly for Frederick Messom, the majority now converted into flats or bed-sit accommodation. Area previously used for garden allotments known as Fishpond Gardens. Three storeys including attic space with projecting wing on rear facade. No significant extensions to original building. Red brick facades, all exposed to adjacent roads on this corner plot. Three storey canted window bays on north and west facing facades with hipped plain tile roofs. Corbelled brick / terracotta detailing at eaves and gable verges with double, shaped or moulded brick / terracotta string courses at storey height levels on main facades. Stone dressings to door and window openings including complete surrounds on front facades with lintels and sills on rear elevation. The stonework has now been painted. Gabled roof with hipped roof over brick canted bays and large gable dormer facing garden .Plain tiles with bonnet hip tiles and decorative perforated clay ridge tiles. Original brick chimney stacks with string course and corbelled red and blue brick caps. Buff ‘crown’ chimney pots. Original lean-to canopy over main entrance door with patterned plain tiles and carved wood bracket with decorative side panel. A number of original sash windows, some with glazing bars, survive, together with original six panel partly glazed main entrance door. Casements to second floor bay windows. Some alterations to windows. Small casement openings and roof window added. Original cast iron rainwater fittings replaced and further downpipes added. Small garden areas adjacent to the house remain enclosed by original brick boundary wall adjacent to Hamilton Drive and Fish Pond Drive. Details of parts of the original wall include saddleback copings, moulded brick string course and brick plinths.
