Also known as Yew Tree House, built c1870-75 with Hine & Evans as the possible architects. The building forms one half of a pair in a prominent corner position at the junction of Peveril Drive and Kenilworth Road. Single household use. Two storeys plus attic storey and converted basement. Kitchen extension added in rear yard area c1980 and replaced by two storey extension c1989. Architect Tony Smith. Utility rooms in basement converted for family residential use c1989. Prefab garage replaced c1989 with brick and slate pitched roof building. Red brick facades with rich variety of brick and stone details. Corbelled bull nose brick detail at eaves and gable verges, forming open pediments, plus a combination of flush or projecting red and blue brick string courses mainly at storey height levels. Projecting brick pilasters at first floor level on west facing wing with pointed arches, brick voussoirs and stone imposts. Pointed brick arches generally to first floor window openings plus stone surrounds to door and window openings on ground floor including splayed corner window with stone colonnette adjacent to main entrance door. Stone band course at first floor level with circular ornamental stone patera panels. Also, quatrefoil shaped window opening within moulded stone oculus surround plus small decorative stone under sill panels. Most of the stonework has now been painted. Gabled roof with slates, clay ridge tiles plus lead valleys and flashings. Original brick chimney stack with corbelled brick cap, buff ‘crown’ pots, brick relief patterning and blue brick
projecting string course. A number of original rainwater fittings remain. Generally sliding sash windows on original building, some with single glazing bars. Apart from the garage building the original garden area survives together with the brick and stone boundary wall and piers adjacent to Kenilworth Road and Peveril Drive. Original garden boundary wall adjacent to Peveril House also survives. Front garden wall adjacent to
11 Peveril Drive is a later addition as the front garden area of the two houses was originally shared without division.
