One of a pair of houses c1878-80. Now converted into flats. Steel fire escape platform and ladder added to garden facing facade from top floor flat. Two storeys plus basement and attics with part two storey wing on road front. Red brick with ashlar dressings and gabled slate roof. Single storey rectangular window bay facing garden plus single storey canted window bay adjacent to arched main entrance doorway on side facade. Single storey, flat roofed rectangular window bay to right side of main entrance doorway. Full height square extension with flat roof in central courtyard on road front. Decorative brick features at verges and eaves plus string courses, band courses, voussoirs and hoodmoulds. Brick patterning on gable. Part of brickwork at ground floor level in central yard area on road front now rendered. Stone surrounds with splay reveals to ground and first floor windows on garden and side facades. Originally, stone lintels and sills to other windows, a number of which now removed. Also, moulded stone surround with pointed arch head to main entrance doorway plus kneelers to gables and gabled dormer. Stonework now painted. Slate gabled roof with gabled dormer overlooking garden. Flat roofed dormers added. Upper section of red brick chimney stacks removed. Original rainwater fittings replaced and further pipework added. Originally, sash windows generally, some with glazing bars. Now a number of alterations, replacements and additions. Sections of original boundary wall with gated openings and brick piers to Lenton Avenue removed to provide access for cars and off street parking. Much of remaining boundary wall to Maxtoke Road and Cavendish Road West survives. Red brick with saddleback copings, blue brick plinth stretchers and coursed rubble stone base.
