Part of a group of nine similarly styled houses on triangular plot enclosed by Lenton Road, Park Drive and Holles Crescent. Built c1865-70, possibly by John Loverseed with architects Hine & Evans. One of a pair of houses (with 1 Park Drive) in prominent position at junction of Lenton Road and Park Drive. In single household use. Small first floor (wc?) extension c1900 in style of architect Watson Fothergill with black painted timber framework and vertical tile hanging. Originally, single storey outbuildings in small yard area at rear of house, now much changed with various alterations, extensions plus garage building, possibly involving architect Reginald Cooper c1963 and Howard Designs Ltd c1989. Three storeys plus basement/cellars. Red brick facades with stone dressings. Range of decorative brickwork features, including buff brick string courses, band courses of small recessed rectangular brick panels and diaper pattern on entrance facade. Two storey canted window bay on east facing facade with shell shaped lead roof. Similar two storey bay on south facing facade but with hipped slate roof. Bull nose brick detail at eaves and gable verges. Projecting brick plinth to facades with stone capping. Ornamental iron vent grille on facade. Combination of rectangular and semicircular arched openings with stone surrounds to original door and windows. Openings generally plain with splay reveals but mouldings added to cornice detail on bays, main entrance doorway and trefoil shaped small first floor window above entrance doorway. The stonework has remained unpainted. Slate gabled roof with clay ridge tiles and lead valleys. Red brick chimney stacks with corbelled head and stone cap. Buff ‘crown’ chimney pots. Original corbelled capping detail on chimney stack shared with 1 Park Drive has been altered. Original c.i. rainwater fittings replaced and further pipework added. Original sash windows generally, some with glazing bars. Original half glazed, six panelled main entrance door. Lean-to canopy over main entrance doorway is later addition. Original red brick boundary wall to Lenton Road with half round copings, blue brick string course and stone plinth. Original pedestrian gate opening now enlarged to allow car access. Original brick garden wall adjacent to No.4 Lenton Road. Hedge boundary adjacent to No.1 Park Drive. No significant external alterations to original house.
