2 Park Drive

One of a pair of houses (with 1 Tattershall Drive) c1875, very similar to pair at 3 and 5 Tattershall Drive. Three storeys. Also similar in styling with 4 and 6 Park Drive. In single household use. Prominent position at junction of Park Drive and Tattershall Drive. Plans for a garage prepared by Swann & Wright for A. C. Ball c1923. Recent conservatory with monopitch roof added adjacent to main entrance doorway and alterations and additions to original outbuildings in rear yard area. Red brick facades with stone door and window surrounds. Three storey canted window bay on garden facing facade with slate hipped roof. Two storey canted window bay on projecting side wing with flat roof and low parapet. Various brick features including bull nose brick at gable verges, eaves and head of three storey bay with blue brick corbelling, string courses and nailhead mouldings adding ornamental detail. Segmental arched heads to some rear window openings with alternating buff and blue brick voussoirs. Parts of the brickwork facades in rear yard area have been painted or rendered. Stone surrounds to all main openings, mostly rectangular with segmental and semicircular arched heads to a number of smaller openings. Stonework is relatively plain with splay reveals plus mouldings to cornice heads on bays, hoodmoulds and door architraves. Stonework now painted. Double pitched slate roof with gables and hips. Clay ridge tiles with lead valleys and bay hips. Red brick chimney stacks with red or blue string courses and mouldings at base of cap. Mainly buff coloured ‘louvre’ chimney pots. Top section of one of stack removed and ‘rebuilt’ without chimney pots. Original c.i. rainwater fittings replaced. Sash windows generally with some alterations and replacements. Original red and blue brick boundary wall with Bulwell stone plinth, plus half round brick copings. Original gate piers with pyramidal shaped stone caps. Part of original wall and gate piers to backyard area removed when garage was added. No significant external alterations to original house and garden.
