Detached house c1895, also known as Gartree House. In single household use. Single storey extension with double pitched plain tile roof added to original outbuildings in front yard area c1920-30, with lean-to addition abutting main house in the same area and converted for (garage?) use. Original conservatory facing garden has been replaced. Part of original carriage and stable building at bottom of garden adjacent to Tattershall Drive converted into separate dwelling with further dwelling added c1980. Two storey original house with small basement. Red brick facades with ashlar dressings. Prominent two storey polygonal window bay with spire roof at corner of garden facing facade. Also, two storey rectangular window bay with hipped roof on same facade. Two storey canted window bay on side facade adjacent to main entrance doorway. Plain brick facades with moulded brick string courses and some door and window surrounds. Moulded stone details at windows with complete stone surrounds to majority of openings, including mullions and transomes. Separate lintels and sills to a number of mainly first floor windows. Stonework now painted. Complex plain tile roof with double pitches, hips, spire and projecting bargeboards at gables. Half-timbering detail to top of facade at gables plus decorative motif to gable panel on outbuilding adjacent to road. Tall red brick chimney stacks with vertical indentation, splay bricks, string courses, corbelling and shaped caps. A number of original pots are missing or have been replaced. Stone plinth detail at base of stack at roof level. Casement windows generally. Some alterations. Leaded windows with stained glass to many top lights and to large staircase/hall window. Double doors to main entrance with overlight and moulded brick segmental arched head above. Each main entrance door leaf has five panels. Stepped garden, as original, with terrace and balustraded stone retaining wall. Original drive linking Cavendish Road East with gated opening on Tattershall Drive. Original red brick and plain tile outbuildings form large part of Cavendish Road East boundary together with original gate piers. Small section of original brick boundary wall survives following later additions.
