Detached Edwardian house c1910, now converted into flats. Barrack Lane, previously named Barrack Road, formed main access to Army Barracks in The Park from Derby Road. Barracks, built 1793 demolished c1870, replaced by sections of new estate roads Pelham Crescent and Cavendish Crescent North. Site of house and a number of other houses on Barrack Lane previously used as allotment gardens. Two storeys plus basement. Red brick and painted render with hipped and gabled plain tile roof. Half timbered gabled bay on road front. Storey height brick plinths with brick and tile string course at first floor level forming render stop to upper storey. Single and two storey pitched roof side extensions. Brick segment arched heads to ground floor window openings with painted stone sills. Mainly casement windows with clear and leaded glazing. Later canopies over basement openings. Recessed central section on south facing facade with flat roofed canopy over entrance door with side lights. Timber framework with painted render infill panels to first floor and gable above. To left, two storey canted window bay with brick plinth plus tile hanging at first floor level. To right, red brick, full height chimney breast. Gabled bay on garden front with storey height brick plinth and single storey canted window bay, painted render at first floor level plus decorative timber framing and painted render infill panels to gable. To right, two storey canted window bay with brick plinth plus tile hanging at first floor level. Hipped and gabled plain tile roof with overhanging eaves. Half round clay ridge tiles and bonnet hip tiles. Bargeboards to gables. Red brick chimney stacks with string courses plus dentil detail to corbelled caps. Mainly casement windows, a number with transoms, overlights and leaded glazing. Coursed rubble stone boundary wall adjacent to Barrack Lane with stone piers at gated openings plus pillars at intervals with railings. Large garden, sloping down to coursed rubble stone boundary wall on Harlaxton Drive.
