Earliest of group of four detached houses c1905-1916 at cul-de-sac end of Clare Valley (formerly named Huntingdon Drive). Style influenced by latter stages of Arts and Crafts movement. House at base of steep bank forming edge of ‘Park Bowl’ and eastern boundary of The Park. Two storey ‘L’ shaped building with combination of painted render and brick facades. Brickwork mainly to ground floors and rear facades. No original plans available for house but plan for works to chimney stack prepared for James Wilson c1907. Plans also exist for garage for William Bayram c1951 and by architect Lloyd Smith for William Munro in 1952 and 1953. Although relatively plain, house has variety of brick details with segmental arched heads over a number of openings with brick surrounds to oval windows. Corbelled brick stop detail at base of render at first floor level. Stone sills to some openings. Hipped and gabled roof with clay plaintiles, ridge tiles with finials, bonnet hip tiles and valley tiles. Painted wooden bargeboards at gables with overhanging wooden eaves and fascia. Upper parts of chimney stacks taken down and capped above eaves level. Single storey, flat roofed bow window bay to principal room overlooking garden with canted oriel window on double wooden brackets at first floor level, directly above. Smaller oriel window at first floor level on side gable. Mainly casement windows, some with glazing bars and lead / lattice panes. Single storey, canted main entrance porch with entrance doorway flanked by brick panels, one with small window. Flat roofed projecting wooden canopy over front door with twin support brackets and moulded edge detail. Flat roofs over porch, bay and oriel windows are covered in lead sheet.
