One of a pair of houses c1910, now converted into flats. Barrack Lane, previously named Barrack Road, formed main access to Army Barracks in The Park from Derby Road. Barracks, built 1793 demolished c1870, replaced by sections of new estate roads Pelham Crescent and Cavendish Crescent North. Site of house and other houses on Barrack Lane previously used as allotment gardens. Two storeys plus basement and attics. Single storey lean-to extension on road front plus projecting single storey wing. Original porch area at end of single storey front wing adjacent to Barrack Lane now altered with later brick and stone infill walls plus windows. Canted window bay on garden front. Red brick with stone dressings and hipped plain tile roof. Brickwork details include moulded brick sills to a number of original window openings and moulded chimney caps. Ashlar features include quoins plus band course at first floor level. Facades cluttered with later flue pipes, cables, aerials etc. Hipped plain tile roof with overhanging moulded wooden eaves. Wooden eaves develop into small, decorative pediments at side wall chimney stacks. Bonnet hips and half round ridge tiles. Red brick chimney stacks with moulded brick caps and red clay roll top chimney pots. One stack altered. Flat roofed dormer windows plus other roof windows added. Original rainwater fittings replaced and further pipework added. A number of original glazing bar sash and casement windows replaced or altered. Original coursed rubble stone boundary wall adjacent to Barrack Lane now partly taken down or openings enlarged to provide car access. Former front garden area converted for car parking use. Sloping site with main garden area at basement level adjacent to house. Garden continues to slope down to stone boundary wall on Harlaxton Drive.
